Gundrilling makes use of a tool that has a single cutting edge and introduces the coolant from the inside of the tool. As the tool chips away the metal, the chips are taken away by the coolant towards the periphery of the tool. Thereafter, the chips are removed through a groove along the length of the cutting tool.
Gundrilling is the ideal process for machining holes of diameters 0.055” / 1.397mm to 1.5” / 38.1mm with challenging depth-to-diameter ratios. The maximum depth that we can achieve is 200” / 5000mm when drilled from both sides, and 100” / 2500mm when drilled from only one side.

For special gundrilling requirements, we have longer bed equipment and counter rotating machines that produce special-purpose holes that cannot be achieved with common gundrills, generally used in this industry. We make use of highly modified machines that are capable of gundrilling deep holes that accurately match the industrial specifications required by our clients.
We provide gundrilling services on a variety of materials, including Aluminium, Alloy Steels, Beryllium, Brass, Bronze, Cobalt Alloys, Copper, Hastelloy, Haynes, Inconel, Monel, Nitronic, Stainless Steel, and Titanium. Here are some of the highlights of our gundrilling services:
- Our precision gundrilling services produce holes with an unparalleled drift of 001” / 0.0254mm per drilled inch / 25 microns.
- We maintain an exceptionally low tolerance of 0.001” / 0.0254mm per drilled hole / 25 microns, and produce a wall variation of less than 0.001” / 0.0254 per 25 microns without the need to turn the outer diameter to the inside diameter
- We can work with workpieces weighing up to 10 tons.
- We can gundrill a wide range of deep or shallow holes, including off centre, on centre, intersecting, angle, ball-end, flat-bottom, through, blind, cross cavity and other types of holes.
